The Woman Who Breathed Two Worlds

“Location is usually seen as a ‘setting.’ But location, if brought to life, can so absorb the reader that it becomes a well-loved character,” says author and speaker Selina Siak Chin Yoke, our presenter at the Orlando FWA meeting on Wednesday, December 6th at 6:30 pm. Siak, visiting from the UK says, “Location, done well, can be more than a backdrop – it can help immerse the reader.” The top 3 things participants will learn: 1) Why make location a character? 2) Tips for using location to enhance a story, and 3) Examples of stories in which a place is central. The talk will be held at the University Club of Winter Park and is free and open to the public. Contact Rik Feeney at rikfeeney@publishingsuccessonline.com for more information.

Orlando Florida Writer’s Association presents Advanced Book Marketing for the Savvy Author,” a talk by writer, speaker, and book coach Rik Feeney at the University Club in Winter Park on Wednesday, March 1st at 6:30 pm.

Knowing where to promote your work online is critical for success. The big question for every author is: Are you taking advantage of all the methods of promotion available to you? How have you researched your online niche market? Have you filled out your ISBN metadata? What’s the timeline for your promotions? How can you sustain the online marketing effort with your offline marketing techniques for a minimum of two to three years? Is it possible you can do all this for free?

In this talk, Feeney will show you easy-to-use strategies to integrate your offline and online marketing efforts, how to use Amazon to research pricing, cover design, and develop effective reviews, and, how and where to supply the appropriate metadata to make sure your book gets the notice it needs. These are just a few of the many ideas that will be discussed. There will also be an open forum where you can contribute ideas that have worked for you.

Join us at the Orlando Florida Writer’s Association meeting on Wednesday, March 1st at 6:30 pm at the University Club in Winter Park (corner of Webster & Park). The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information go to https://fwaorlando.wordpress.com or email usabookcoach@gmail.com.
