FWA Annual Conference review and share

The next meeting, that’s the December 3 meeting, of the Orlando Area Writers Group (Florida Writers Association) will focus on reviewing last weekend’s annual conference and sharing information from the sessions you attended. Many of us couldn’t attend the conference, so we’ll be exposed to a little of what we missed. But, even if you did attend, you couldn’t have attended all the events you wanted to attend. This will be a sharing and learning experience for us all.

Remember, you are under no pressure to create a fancy presentation or to polish your words to perfection, and you don’t even have to fit into a specified time limit. Just bring your notes and tell us about your experiences and some of the highlights you think your fellow group members might benefit from. You can even team up with another member if you like.

To help out with the meeting, here’s all you need to do:

  1. decide which one or two or three events inspired you the most during the course of the weekend;
  2. e-mail me — ImYourEditor@hotmail.com — with the name of the event and let me know about how much time you might need; and
  3. come to the meeting, prepared to share.

Could it be any easier?

You might also consider revealing, instead of or in addition to,

  • at least one idea you heard at the conference that you plan to apply in your writings during the coming year;
  • an epiphany or breakthrough you had at the conference that you hope will launch you and your writings in a new direction;
  • a goal (personal or professional) that you’ve set as a result of something you saw or heard at the conference; or
  • anything else you gained from attending the conference.

As always, that Wednesday meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the University Club of Winter Park, which is located at 841 Park Avenue North, on the northwest corner of Park and Webster Avenue. Contact me if you have any questions at all. I look forward to hearing from several of you, and hope to learn some valuable information.
